Teacher Appreciation Day
On Tuesday, May 9, several parents planned a special day for our teachers. The Parent Booster Club provided a breakfast for the teachers before school, and had several fun surprises throughout the day.
Parents Nancy Durang, Nancy Ferreira, Ana Meehan, Tara Remy, along with members of our school board, provided a breakfast buffet with egg casserole, bagels, fresh fruit and a “Box O’ Joe.” Mr. Chris Davis came to school to help supervise students before school, to allow all the teachers to enjoy the breakfast together.
Later on, the teachers were given carnations by each of their students. Fresh coffee and cookies were delivered in the afternoon, along with memo pads, a pen, and a package of popcorn and bowls to enjoy later!
Thank you to all the parents who helped to make this a special day of thoughtful acts, and surprises for our teachers!

Please Help…
In today’s folder, you will find a letter to all parents, asking for help in our grant process. We have been trying to access additional funding to help better serve our student base. In so doing, we have found that many grants and programs are tied into income guidelines that align with the Qualifications for Free and Reduced Lunches.
To help apply for the grants, and to qualify for additional funding, we are asking all families to fill out the enclosed survey. Please rest assured that your information will remain confidential, and will help us in the grant writing and approval process. To help in this process, we are providing you with an envelope labeled, “To the Attention of - Mrs. Karen I. Hodges – Personal and Confidential.”
What do we hope to accomplish? We would like to help reduce the cost of lunches for our students. At this point, our lunches cost $3.50 per day. We may be able to reduce the cost of the lunches if our school qualifies. Secondly, we may be able to offer additional reading support through Title I in the future. Thirdly, many of the grants that we have been reviewing require some categorizing of income level.
Presently, we participate in several grants through the NO Child Left Behind Act, and Brockton Public Schools. Title IID has helped us make strides in the area of technology – through the acquisition of “In Focus” digital projector, our computer server, and a digital camera. Title II A funding has given our teachers training in technology, classroom and teaching techniques, writing seminars, and this summer, will help send three teachers to a two week course in science. Title V funding has helped purchase textbooks for our school.
It is our hope that we can secure additional funding to help give our teachers additional resources, and to continue to give your children an education that will meet their needs – and help them strive towards excellence.
If you have any questions about this survey or the grant process, please contact Mrs. Hodges through the school office. Thank you.
