Calendar Fundraiser runs
through October 23!

The Calendar Fundraiser is in full swing!

Your child received a calendar packet last week, with a sample God’s Creation Wall Calendar, and an order form. We run this fundraiser to help support our specials programs of music, art, physical education, and Spanish. We feel that these additional subjects help give a well-rounded program in addition to the required academic subjects.

The fundraiser runs from October 4, 2006 thru October 23, 2006. Calendars will be ready for delivery the week of November 15, 2006. At $6.00 per calendar, they make wonderful, inexpensive holiday gifts for family, friends, and business associates. Last year, we sold 870 calendars and raised over $2600.00 in profit which helped to give our students the extra benefits of music, art, and physical education during the school year.

This year, our goal is to sell 925 calendars. To help us reach this goal, we are offering the following incentives:

  • Students who sell 5-9 calendars will receive a dress down pass for a special dress down day to be announced.
  • Students who sell 10-20 calendars will get to go to Kentucky Fried Chicken for lunch with Mrs. Hodges, along with the dress down pass.
  • The student in grades PreK – 3 with the largest number of orders will receive a gift card from Best Buy.
  • The student in grades 4-8 with the largest number of orders will receive a gift card from Best Buy.
  • The classroom which sells the highest percentage of calendars will have an afternoon of popcorn and movies in their classroom at a date to be announced.

Please note:
All calendars are sold on a prepaid basis. Checks should be made out to Brockton Christian School.

It is not mandatory to participate in the fundraiser. If you choose not to participate in the fundraiser, please return the sample calendar. Your account will be charged $6.00 if the calendar is not returned or sold by October 23, 2006.

If you have any questions or are in need of additional samples or order forms, please contact the school office.

We have a new teacher!

Starting on Monday, October 16, Miss Kristen Stevens will be joining our staff as our new Third Grade Teacher! Miss Stevens is a graduate of Houghton College, (Mrs. Hodges’ alma matar) and holds a degree in Elementary Education. She is certified in the State of Massachusetts, and has recently been working in a special needs classroom through Charms Collaborative. Look in the next newsletter for more biographical information.

Join us in welcoming Miss Stevens, and thanking Mrs. Debbi Masse for serving as our permanent substitute in third grade this year!

Opportunities to Help

Would you like to get more involved in your child’s school? Here are some opportunities to help!

  • help with the phone and front door in the office (needed on days that Mrs. Hodges is out of the office for administrative meetings)
  • Iron curtains and hang them in the sun room (you would need to bring in an ironing board/iron) any day!
  • help supervise recess (mornings – 10:00 – 10:35)
  • volunteer in a classroom (see Mrs. Hodges)
  • Help sort and count ink jet cartridges for recycling (can be done at home!)

Signed Progress Reports due back

Tardy Students

If your child arrives late on chapel day (or during a special for your child’s class), you will be asked to bring your child to the AfterCare room in the back of the school building. We cannot leave the school office unattended to escort your child to chapel. Your child’s safety is of utmost concern to us, so we will not allow any student to walk outside alone. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

Safety in the Morning!

If you are dropping off a student in the morning, please pull in a parking space and walk your child to the field or to the side door. Please do not leave your car in the driveway, so other parents can get in or out of the parking lot.

We are concerned for the safety of our students, so it would help if all parents would adhere to this procedure. Thank you.

PreCare

Do you need to drop your child off at school before 7:35 AM? We now have "PreCare", supervised by Mrs. Fish. You can drop your child off after 7:00 AM in the kindergarten room (right next to the office). The charge is $2.00 per day per child. Call or email the school office for more details. School Lunches Please note that school lunch money is due in the school office by 11:00 AM on Tuesdays. Please remind your child to send the lunch money to the office in the morning - or let us know to check your child's backpack! Please fill out a separate form for each child - and either write a check or send in correct change for lunch. Please do not include AfterCare or tuition payments in the same envelope. Thank you!
