Exciting News for the Future!

We have exciting news! Last Friday, March 31, 2006, we opened up a new bank account with Trinity Baptist Church for a building fund! As of April 3, we have $10100.00 in the fund, and plan to add to it as finances and/or gifts allow.

While we appreciate the building that we have now, we realize that it needs major work, as well as room for future growth. Our hope and dream is that we would serve as an elementary/middle school during the day, with a tutoring program after school, and an adult basic education center in the evening hours.

Already, there are over 40 adults enrolled in the ESOL program at night. This program is funded by a grant that is shared with Trinity Baptist Church and the First Church of the Nazarene in Brockton.

Next year, we will see the addition of a computer lab, shared with the ESOL program. This resource will add a technology component to our regular education program.

What is bringing this all about? I believe that God is blessing the ministry of both Brockton Christian School and Trinity Baptist Church. On March 24, members of the church board, along with representatives from BCS, met to bring healing and restoration to our relationship. We realize that neither the school nor the church has been supportive and encouraging to the other over the past years. God has brought us together in an atmosphere of forgiveness and restoration - and a new beginning!

As principal of the school, I am SO thankful that God has allowed us to see this healing take place, and to bring to fruition a new start! Please pray for those of us that are in leadership roles, that we would remain faithful to His ministry, and that the lines of communication would remain open and encouraging. Pray that we would have wisdom to make the right decisions for the future building in regards to space, design, and finances.

The parents of our parent group are gathering to pray on Monday, April 24, from 7:00 - 8:00 PM. Please join us as we pray for our students, teachers, and the school in general.

I would love to share more of this momentous occasion on a more personal note. Please stop by, or give me a call! I love to share when God is at work!

In Him - for His children,
Karen Hodges, Principal

No "Heelies"!

If your child has “heelie” sneakers, they should not be worn at school. We have had a few incidents where students have worn them, and had “near misses” with students – and staff! If your child does wear them, they will be asked to wait in the school office until a replacement of shoes is brought in. Thank you for your understanding of our safety concern for the students.

Stanford Achievement Testing

Our annual SAT testing starts this Friday, April 7! It will continue through next week, Monday through Thursday. All students in grades K – 8 will be tested, with subtests being given each day. It is important that students arrive to school on time, as we start testing the first thing in the morning.

Please make sure that your child arrives at school on time, and has had a healthy breakfast. A good night’s sleep will help your child to concentrate on the testing, as well!

If your child is tardy, and testing has begun in the classroom, he or she will have to wait in the office until the class has finished.

There will be no makeup for testing, so please make sure that your child arrives on time daily. If your child is sick, has a temperature, or is vomiting, PLEASE keep him or her at home! Thank you!

7th Grade Cookbook Project

We still have a number of World Culture Cookbooks for sale – at a great price of $7.00 per cookbook! It is also a way to help our 7th grade class raise funds to help pay for the environmental cleanup of their classroom. You may send in money to the school office.
