Back to School Night!

Monday, September 18

7:00 PM

Come to hear your child’s teacher talk about this year’s program and expectations. Teachers will give 2 20-minute presentations (7:00 and 7:30) to allow for parents of more than one child to attend each class. This meeting is a MUST for parents! We encourage both parents/guardians to attend!

Please note: this is NOT an Open House night, so please either keep your children with you, or leave them with a babysitter.

Opportunities to Help!

Would you like to get more involved in your child’s school? Here are some opportunities to help!

• help in the office stuffing plastic packets (Tuesdays)
• help with the phone and front door in the office
• Iron curtains and hang them in the sun room (you would need to bring in an ironing board/iron) any day!
• help supervise recess (mornings – 10:00 – 10:35)
• volunteer in a classroom (see Mrs. Hodges)
• Help sort and count ink jet cartridges for recycling (can be done at home!)

Connecting Parents

Parents of a Kindergarten student from Brockton are looking for someone to share carpooling in Brockton. They can do morning pickups.

Parent of a PreK student in Brockton is available to help with drop off or pick up on Monday or Tuesday. They live within walking distance of the school.

PreCare

Do you need to drop your child off at school before 7:35 AM? We now have “PreCare”, supervised by Mrs. Fish. You can drop your child off after 7:00 AM in the kindergarten room (right next to the office). The charge is $2.00 per day per child. Call or email the school office for more details.

BCS Boosters

BCS Boosters is our parent/volunteer group. They are organizing some special projects to help the school and its students.

You can get more information at Back to School Night, or contact Nancy Durang (ohmyjoy@comcast.net) or Linda Hayes (hayes.kenneth@comcast.net).

Projects planned: a fall harvest fair, Volunteering (Three for Me), as well as collecting Box Tops for Education, Campbell’s Soups Labels for Education, and ink jet cartridges.

Additional Notes…

Please label your child’s belongings! School sweaters look the same unless they are labeled. Please check your child’s sweaters, sweatshirts, lunchboxes, backpacks, etc. to make sure they are labeled!

All hardcover textbooks must be covered. You may either use brown paper bags or purchased book covers.

Lunch Information…

Our lunch program has started! Please remember to send in your lunch orders by Tuesday at 11:00 AM the week BEFORE it is served. We would appreciate it if you would:

* Separate your lunch money from any other payment (it comes from a different account and is counted off site!)
* Use separate forms for each child (we sort them by grade to eliminate any problems)

We sometimes have extra slices of pizza or an extra sub. Students may purchase any additional lunches, due to absences. We cannot order additional lunches if your child forgot a lunch or did not order, however.

Drinks are available a la carte (water $.25 and juice boxes $.50).

COMING SOON…

Wednesday – September 20 – Picture Day!
Your child’s picture will be taken during the school day. Information is in your child’s packet today. Payment must accompany order at the time of photography.

Friday, September 29 – NO SCHOOL!
This is an in-service day for teachers at BCS.

AFTERCARE INFORMATION

Our AfterCare/CLubHouse cell phone number is 508-345-4215.

If you are picking up your child in AfterCare, you need to drive around the building to the back. The AfterCare room is the area closest to the street on Greenwood Ave. (Parallel to Main St.) There is no access to the AfterCare room from the front of the building.

Please note that there is an extra charge for any time after our closing time of 5:30 PM. ($10.00 per any portion of 10 minutes)
