Parent Letter - July 1 |

July 1, 2006 Dear Parents, As we enter the month of July, we have much to be thankful for! The damage from the recent fire at Trinity Baptist Church is being addressed, and the insurance and cleaning companies are hard at work to ready our building for the fall. Most of the damage was limited to the brick portion of our building, and mainly in the lower level. We have just had to make the difficult decision to cancel our summer CLubHouse program, to allow the cleaning and restoration of our building to happen without interference with a day camp program. Two cleaning crews are busy in the building, removing soot and smoke residue. But in the fall, we will have a clean fresh building to house our ten classrooms and office! Please continue to keep the people and leadership of Trinity Baptist in your prayers, as well as the other ministries that are located in our building. In the midst of all this, we are excited about the fall program at Brockton Christian School! We are currently involved in renovating our PreK and Kindergarten rooms, projects that were started before the fire. Mrs. Judy Doherty, our former 3rd grade teacher, is going to move to our PreK program this year, implementing a new curriculum and philosophy in early childhood education. We are in the hiring process for two teachers for the fall. We are also purchasing new math texts for the entire school. Last year’s 8th grade helped to raise funds for new science texts in our upper grades. We are extending our vocabulary program to grades 2 and 3 this year. And these are just the academic changes and growth! This year, we will be learning about becoming Champions for Christ. As BCS is located in Brockton, the City of Champions, we are excited about learning about the challenges of being Champions for Christ as well! I encourage you as parents to prepare your children by reading about the Champions in the Bible, such as Joshua, Nehemiah, Moses, Paul, and others. Maybe you could share that with us as a school, or your child’s class, during the school year! As you think about the coming year, I also challenge you to claim the following selection of scripture, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:23, 24) We are a people of hope. Our God is faithful. We look forward to a year of facing the challenges – as Champions of Faith! You will receive another mailing from us in August with back to school information and more exciting news. We are planning a Work Day for Saturday, August 12, from 9:00 – 2:00 PM, and will send more information closer to that date. Our website will also keep you informed as to our progress on the building. Until then – thank you for your prayers and support as we prepare for the coming school year. As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. In His love, for His children – the coming Champions, Karen I. Hodges,
