Black History Month Celebration - 2006
Martin
Luther King Day kicks off the celebration of Black History Month here
at Brockton Christian School. We will be celebrating Black History Month
from January 16 – February 17. Students have the opportunity to
participate in the following activities:
Essay
Contest:
Read
one of the quotes for your age level. Write an essay that tells the meaning
of the quote in your own words. Then, share an instance in your life when
this quote was applicable, and how the quote relates to the lives of young
people today. Up to five entries per classroom MAY be submitted to the
National Foundations for Life essay contest.
Grades 3 – 5 –
Essays should be under 500 words

Poster
Contest (grades PreK - 2):
Design
a poster on paper (at least 8 ½ x 11) that illustrates one of the
quotes above. Have an adult write why you chose the quote and illustration.
All entries are
due on Wednesday, February 15. Awards will be given out in chapel Wednesday,
March 1. (after vacation)
