MISSION OF BROCKTON CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Brockton Christian School is an inter-denominational ministry of Trinity Baptist Church. Founded in 1959, the school's mission is to provide academic excellence for students in grades Pre-K through 8 in a distinctively Christian environment.

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

The ministry of Brockton Christian School is designed to help, in cooperation with the local church, to support parents in their God-given responsibility in “train(ing) a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”  (Proverbs 22:6)  We strongly believe in the partnership of the school, the home, and the church.

Therefore, our goal is to guide children in grades PreK – 8 to grow as Jesus did, “in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”  (Luke 2:52)

All staff members of Brockton Christian School are committed believers in Jesus Christ who attend and support various evangelical churches in the area.  Teachers are expected to maintain state or ACSI certification, and are encouraged to pursue continuing education and advanced degrees.  Teachers are Christian role models (I Timothy 4:12), both in and out of school, (Luke 6:40) for students.  Teachers and staff work together as a team to plan and carry out the day-to-day operation of the school.

The goal of teaching is to help children develop a biblical worldview, including character development, peacemaking skills, respect for others, and a development of a Biblical standard of ethics.

Brockton Christian School uses a variety of curriculum that promotes high academic standards, and is taught with an awareness of state and national standards.  Biblical principles are integrated into each area of curriculum taught.  Current strategies and models of teaching are used, combining the best of traditional and current teaching practices.  Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills, and technology is utilized within the classroom to access information and promote creativity.

It is imperative to foster a creative, safe learning environment for children while maintaining a limited class size to optimize learning of all students.  Diversity and unity are celebrated within the school family.  Each classroom is designed for the encouragement of all students, as instruction is given in both full class and small groups.

AFFILIATIONS

Brockton Christian School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and is recognized by the School Committee of the Brockton Public Schools as an approved elementary school under the guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Brockton Christian School is also involved in the ACSI STAR (Steps Toward Achieving Recognition) program, a school improvement and recognition program as a precursor to accreditation. BCS is also a recognized urban school through ACSI.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Brockton Christian School has adopted the following statement of faith:

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word of God as originally penned.
  2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right-hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.
  4. We believe that for the salvation of the lost, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is God's only provision through belief in the Lord Jesus as Savior from sin.
  5. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; for the saved, to eternal life, for the lost to eternal torment.
  6. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is able to live a life pleasing to God.

ADMISSIONS

Brockton Christian School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administrated programs.  BCS celebrates and encourages a diverse student body.

Brockton Christian School’s admission procedure officially begins with a re-enrollment period in February and March, during which time currently enrolled students and their siblings have priority in registrations for the following year.  There is a discount for families who re-enroll by March 15th.  Families re-enrolling must be current in their tuition payments.

New applications may be filed at any time during the year and must be accompanied by a $100.00 registration fee.  New students may be enrolled, provided acceptance requirements are met, at any time during the year until the end of April.  New eighth graders are not traditionally accepted after the first grading period.  Exceptions may be made in extreme circumstances, such as a move to the area.

To be eligible for PreK, students must be four years old by time of entrance.  Kindergarten students must be five years old by October 1 of the year they enter school.  All Kindergarten students will be screened the summer before they enter Kindergarten.

Entrance testing, transcripts, health records, and birth certificates are required for all students in K - 8.  Entrance testing is not required for PreK students.  A visitation day may be scheduled for new or prospective students to spend time in class and for testing.  Visitation days must be scheduled in advance.
