BCS CLubHouse

Do you need childcare during the Christmas vacation? Our vacation care, BCS CLubHouse, will be available as soon as school dismisses on Wednesday, December 21. Christmas Clubhouse will operate from 11:00 AM on December 21 through Friday, December 30. (We will be closed on December 26, a legal holiday.) Operating hours: 7:30 – 5:30 daily, for a total of 6 ½ days. BCS CLubHouse is available for students in PreK (age 4) through 5th grade.

Our CLubHouse is slightly different from our traditional AfterCare program. This December, the “CLubHouse Kids” will learn about Jesus Manger Miracles in many hands-on activities, including drama, music, cooking, and craft activities. CLubHouse is staffed by BCS teachers and staff, so your children will know their caregivers!

We are enclosing the BCS CLubHouse brochure in this week’s packet. If you have any questions, please call the BCS office at 508-588-4669. The CLubHouse and AfterCare telephone number is 508-345-4215.

Tuition Information

We would appreciate your prompt payment of tuition in December. With the onset of winter, our fuel bills increase. We would like to pay our teachers before the Christmas break, so your prompt payment will make this possible.

With a student body count of 110, it is absolutely critical that tuition payments be made on time. Thank you!

"Preparing for Christmas"

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I love the preparations of Christmas! Each year, I unpack tubs of decorations, Christmas mugs, ornaments, candles, and other special things. I love the Swedish “tomtes” (little people), and purchase a new one each year. The ornaments collected from over 20 years of student gifts are unpacked and put on the tree. I have Christmas music playing wherever I am working (even at school), and enjoy hearing the carols and sacred music celebrating Christ’s birth. It’s a special time – full of music, scents, and memories with family and friends.

I wonder if we spend as much time (and energy) preparing our hearts for Christmas. Here at BCS, we are memorizing Luke 2:8 – 14 (provided below) as part of a challenge to prepare our hearts and direct our thinking to God’s Word and the meaning of Christmas. By focusing on Christ’s birth – and His coming to earth for us, we prepare our hearts and lives to celebrate Christmas.

In chapel, we are celebrating Christ’s birth by memorizing the Luke passage, singing Christmas carols and songs of worship, and enjoying special programs by grades 2, 3, and 6. (come and enjoy them on December 14 and 21 during chapel!) Our Christmas program on December 19 will be a time of celebration as well! We hope that all these things will help you – and your child – prepare your heart for celebrating Christ’s birth.

Karen I. Hodges, Principal

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." (Luke 2:8-14 – NIV)

Special Missions Project!

What is Christmas without cookies? What is winter without warm soup?

Our seventh grade teacher, Ms Summers, is raising funds to go to Nigeria on a missions trip for six weeks this summer.

Ms Summers is making both “cookies in a jar” and “soup in a jar.” They may be purchased for $6.00 each. Order forms are in the school office. Orders may be picked up between December 19 –21. They would make great Christmas presents! Thank you for your support of this project!

Things are Happening Here!

During the past week, you could see many different things happening here at Brockton Christian School:

  • Our office Christmas tree and decorations are up, courtesy of our 8th grade class!
  • Our advanced flutes are playing in three part harmony! You will be able to listen to “Silent Night”, performed by our flutists, at our Christmas program!
  • We had vision and hearing screenings with our school nurse, Kathy Dwer, last Friday. If there was any concern, you will receive written notice soon. Hearing screenings will be repeated in January.
  • We have a new volunteer in our first grade classroom! Mrs. Jean Dodero is helping our first graders with reading each Monday!
