8th Grade Fundraiser
Our 8th grade class is coordinating
a Hilliard’s Candy fundraiser for textbooks for the
coming year. Students in grades 4 – 8 are welcome to
help with this project (or parents in any other grade!). If
you are interested in receiving a box of candy bars to sell,
please contact our 8th grade by email through the office,
or send in a note.
World
Culture Day
We are planning our World
Culture Day for the middle of March during Spirit Week. We’re
looking for a large group activity or demonstration (step,
African Dance, liturgical movement, etc) for an afternoon.
Do any of our parents have an idea or contact?
Don’t
forget to finish the Black History Month activities!
Grades PreK – 2 may make a poster,
and grades 3 – 8 may write essays about famous quotes
that will make a difference! See our website for the quotes!

Projects are due on February 15!

BCS Parent Survey
I wish to thank all the parents who returned the parent “report
card” that was sent home in January. The comments and
grades were very helpful, and will aid us in making BCS an
even better school for your children! We received 31 surveys
back – about a 30% return.
Our
parents of younger students (PreK – 3) gave us high
“grades” on discipline, chapel, English, math,
social studies and staff courtesy. We’re challenged
to improve in technology, homework, and AfterCare.
Our parents of older students (4 – 8) gave us high grades
on Bible, chapel, social studies, staff courtesy, and AfterCare.
We’re challenged to improve in technology, special subjects,
and social development of students.
The
comments from parents were especially insightful. As I read
through them, I was heartened to see such comments as: “It’s
nice to know that my child is in an environment that honors
the Lord,” or “I can discern real concern for
my children by their teachers,” or “I love the
family atmosphere, the diversity, yet the closeness.”
Many
of the comments that challenged us to improve center around
funding, and the impact that limited financial resources have
on us: the physical structure, computers, a computer lab,
playground facilities, and foreign language. We are well aware
of these needs, and hope that working with our new Booster
Club will help in these areas! (Come to the meeting on Monday,
February 13!)
I
am closing with a few additional comments from the surveys.
“I
am proud to have my child as a student at BCS. She is learning
the values of life and also establishing a relationship
with God…”
“I
am so grateful for BCS! My children are thriving here!”
“As
always, thank you for your commitment, caring and connections!”
We
strive to make connections with our families. If you have
any ideas that you think will help us, please contact me –
or attend the Parent Booster Club meeting on February 13!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact
me! Thank you!
